Khalid and Kathleen had their first date over 2 years ago at the inner harbor. Khalid kept Kathleen from getting run over by a bicycle.
Was this the first time they met? It is hard to say. They may have met years before in the lab or at a trade show, but probably not, since Khalid doesn't have a centrifuge or pipette to show for it. Not even a Discovery Happens in a laboRATory fridge magnet.
Downs Park is a lovely Bayside park in Pasadena, MD. There is a fabulous dog beach, a playground and fishing piers. Please take this opportunity to have some food, meet our families and all of our very cool friends. Dress code is casual, but please wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. If you would like to bring your dog so you can enjoy the dog beach, we will have Vet Techs at the wedding to hold/walk your dog while you get food ( dogs aren't allowed inside the venue). Just look for the folks in the VALET BARKING shirts.
If you have the appropriate fishing licences and want to get some fishing in, go right ahead, just don't bring any gear or fish into the reception areas.
The wedding itself will take place in the mother's garden. The ceremony will not be long, but there will be very little seating. The terrain is mainly slightly uneven brick. The reception area is air conditioned and has no steps to get in or to get to the rest rooms. the path to the entrance is paved. If you have any accessibility needs, please let us know so we can make accommodations.
The reception following the wedding will be heavy appetizers and lots of desserts. There will be vegetarian options and Keto options (but not for dessert, you are on your own there!). As this wedding is happening in a public park, there is no alcohol.
The reception area will be both peanut and pork free. If you have any food allergy concerns, let us know and we will review options for you.
NEW!!! Just added---- Arcadia Pavilion
Now, Along with the Chesapeake Building and the Mothers' Garden, we also have added the Arcadia Pavilion. This will be just for our use and has a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a large field where we will have kickball, wiffleball, soccer and cornhole. The pavilions are covered and have picnic tables. We will have coolers full of drinks here. We will also have a priority line for free SHAVED ICE!
Suitable for kids of all ages. Bug Spray recommended.
This wedding is happening rain or shine. However, if it does rain, please don't bring your dog.
getting there
Pasadena, where on earth is Pasadena? Nestled down at the end 100 east. When you are on 100 east, it will say Gibson Island, but you are headed in the right direction.
From 100 East, which transects both 95 and 295, you drive until you reach route 177E. You take route 177E until you see John Downs loop on the right. If you go too far, you will hit the gate house for Gibson Island and they will make you turn around.
When you first pull into downs park, there is a small guard house. Don't worry about the $5 fee. Tell them you are here for the wedding and they will let you in for free.
Follow the road you are on until you reach an open area with lots of parking. There should be wedding signs to follow.
If you are putting this in your GPS, you are going to John Downs Loop, Pasadena, MD
